Elisenda Fábregas Symphony No. 1 for Symphonic Band Recorded for Naxos

ElisendaFábregasElisenda Fábregas (DMA ’11, Composition) recently had her Symphony No.1 for Symphonic Band recorded for Naxos by the Banda Municipal of Barcelona lead by Maestro Salvador Brotons. Symphony No. 1 was commissioned and premiered by the same group at L’Auditori, Sala Pau Casals, in February, 2014, and was performed on July 15, 2016, at Plaça del Rei in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. On April 10, 2016, Accents Catalans for symphonic orchestra was commissioned and premiered by the Bucheon Philharmonic and Maestro Youngmin Park at the Seoul Arts Center Orchestra Festival. Other premieres include her Triple Concerto premiered in Atlanta by the Trio Nova Mundi in 2014; Tiempo de Amor for soprano, tenor and piano premiered at the Barcelona Festival of Song in 2015; and Homenatge a Pau Casals for cello premiered at Festival Masimas in Barcelona, in the summer of 2015. Her new work, Blue and Black for piano quartet, will be premiered by the South Korean based group Ensemble La mer et l’îlle on October 2, 2016, at Singapore Esplanade Recital Hall and performed at the Concourse in Chatswood, Sidney on October 15 and Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts on November 27. Blue and Black is written as a homage to Dokdo Island and the East Sea and is based on Korean folk music.
