Denyce Graves to Perform in Terence Blanchard’s Champion at Washington National Opera

Faculty artist Denyce Graves will portray the mother of Emile Griffith–the closeted gay boxer whose knockout of a homophobic rival in the early 1960s led to unexpected tragedy–in Terence Blanchard’s “opera in jazz” Champion at the Washington National Opera from Saturday, March 4 to Saturday, March 18.
