The Poulenc Trio Performs at An Die Musik Live! Featuring Latest CD “Creation”

unnamedThe Poulenc Trio – Bryan Young (BM ’96, Bassoon); Preparatory faculty artist Irina Kaplan Lande, piano; and Liang Wang, oboe – will perform at An die Musik Live! on Saturday, February 4 at 3:30 pm in a concert and celebration featuring hits from their latest CD, Creation, including Suite in the Old Style, featuring Baltimore-area poet and Guggenheim-winner Lia Purpura. The program will also feature sneak previews from the Poulenc Trio’s next CD, releasing in Summer 2017, and behind-the-scenes sets from the Trio’s new animated film, Trains of Thought: Animated, premiering in May at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. In December, the Poulenc Trio recorded a new CD to be released this summer. The new CD will feature the world premiere recording of Trains of Thought by Viet Cuong (BM ’11, MM ’12, Composition), as well as works by Poulenc, Françaix, Shostakovich and Rossini.

In January, Mr. Wang toured and worked with Yo-Yo Ma, a Peabody Distinguished Artist Council member, and conductor Michael Stern to launch Youth Music Culture Guangdong, a groundbreaking new musical-cultural initiative in China.

In February, Bryan Young (BM ’96, Bassoon) will join the Aspen String Trio – comprised of faculty artist Victoria Chiang, viola, Michael Mermagen (BM ’84, Cello), cello,  and David Perry, violin- for a concert on Saturday, February 11 at 8:00 pm at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, Calif.
