The Columbia (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, and the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University will feature Dion Cunningham (MM ’13, Piano) and Roderick Demmings, Jr.(BM ’16, Organ) on their 28th annual Peabody concert on Sunday, February 19 at 3:00 pm at the Kossiakoff Center in Laurel, Md. The concert was originally started to help the African-American students matriculating through the Peabody Conservatory of Music. In 1990, African American students had not traditionally been privy to an audience for demonstrating their talent, because they were rarely invited to perform at major community concerts. This concert gave students the opportunity to showcase their talents in a variety of media. The concert features classical, jazz and gospel music. In support of the Peabody Conservatory Director’s Discretionary Fund, the Columbia (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will make a contribution for minority students and special activities.
