Melissa Wertheimer (MM ’10, Piccolo) has been newly appointed as the archivist of the Music Library Association, the U.S. branch of the International Association of Music Libraries. The MLA Archives are housed at Special Collections in Performing Arts at the University of Maryland, College Park. Ms. Wertheimer’s five-year service appointment will include scholarly writing, collection advocacy, and digitization projects. The collection under her stewardship contains invaluable documents related to 20th-century music, including documents of Henry Cowell, Ingolf Dahl, Lou Harrison, Milton Babbitt, Howard Hanson, Donald Grout, Oliver Strunk, Alfred Einstein, Claude Palisca, Frederick Fennell, Hans Kindler, Virgil Thompson, Irving Lowens, and many more notable figures.
