On Wednesday, April 19, faculty artist Judah Adashi (MM ’02, DMA ’11, Composition) led an evening of words and music titled RiseBmore in honor of Freddie Gray on the anniversary of his death. Artists Sharea Harris, Love the Poet, Brittani McNeill (GPD ’15, Voice), and Hannah Sawyerr lead a conversation titled “Writing in the Margins of Baltimore” beginning at 7:00 pm. The 8:00 pm concert featured music by Mr. Adashi, Tariq Al-Sabir (BM ’15, Voice), Ruby Fulton (DMA ’09, Composition), Lafayette Gilchrist, Brooks Long, and Martina Lynch, poetry by Tariq Toure, and images by J.M. Giordano. The event was sponsored in part by the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
