Jake Runestad Works Performed Worldwide

runestadIn October, the Dallas Symphony Chorus gave the world premiere Proud Music of the Storm, a work by Jake Runestad (MM ’11, Composition; MM ’12, Music Theory Pedagogy) commissioned to celebrate the chorus’ 40th anniversary. In June, they will tour Sweden, Estonia, and Finland with the orchestral version of the work. Runestad’s Into the Light was premiered in Germany and performed at both the Thomaskirche in Leipzig and the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg in November. That work for chorus and orchestra was commissioned by Valparaiso University to commemorate 500 years since the Reformation. He also had five performances of his works performed at the International Federation for Choral Music’s Conference in Barcelona in July including: Ireland’s New Dublin Singers (Nyon Nyon), USA’s Salt Lake Vocal Artists (The Peace of Wild Things), South Africa’s Tuks Camerata (Let My Love Be Heard), Korea’s Ansan City Choir (Ner Ner), and Singapore’s Raffles Singers (Let My Love Be Heard). Finally, the Philippine Madrigal Singers took Runestad’s Let My Love Be Heard on tour to the European Grand Prix where they placed second.
