Byeong Woo Lee Composes for Olympic Ceremonies

beyong wooByeong Woo Lee (GPD ’98, Guitar; GPD ’00, Chamber Ensemble) has been chosen as one of the composers of the official music for the Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies at the PyeongChang Olympic stadium. Mr. Lee said, “My compositions for the opening ceremony includes music for the beginning short film, the River of Time, Future of All and Peace in Motion.” Byeong Woo was the first recipient of the Music for the World Award for distinguished Peabody alumni and is an internationally renowned performer and composer who has received multiple awards for his film scores including The Host and Mother. During his student years at Peabody he was the first guitarist to win the Yale Gordon Concerto Competition. He is also a recipient of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association Knowledge for the World Award (2009).
