Faculty artist Du Yun, composition, was named a Guggenheim Fellow for 2018 in the Music Composition category. She won for a co-commission with Carnegie Hall, London Southbank, Kennedy Center and Cal Performances. It employs an orchestra with two lead singers and a percussion soloist, and it is based on a documentary on Syrian refugees, with video by Palestine artist Khaled Jarrar.
