Peabody Trumpets Perform at International Trumpet Guild Conference

burgstallerPeabody trumpet faculty Joe Burgstaller and several of his former and current students performed at the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Conference in in San Antonio, Texas, from May 29-June 3, 2018. Burgstaller debuted his new concept recital that included a world premiere of an ITG commission, Trumpet Voyage, as well as a premiere of Burgstaller’s own trumpet+electronics composition Wonderful.  His guest performers included Buddy Deshler (MM ’17, Trumpet) and doctoral candidate Brandon Cave. Burgstaller also performed as part of Ryan Anthony’s “Cancer Blows” concert, with Doc Severinsen leading several trumpet soloists in front of the United States Air Force Band of the West. Shane Coughlin (BM ’17, Trumpet) performed Peabody composer Christian Humcke’s (MM ‘17, Composition) work on the New Works Recitals. Josh Ganger (MM ’14, Trumpet) performed on the New Works Recital. Deshler organized and led two Trumpet Ensemble Reading Sessions. Cave and doctoral candidate Jason Aylward composed selections that were read at the sessions.
