Long-time Peabody faculty member Ruth Inglefield passed away on February 24, 2019. Peabody Institute Dean Fred Bronstein offered the following reaction to the news:
“Ruth Inglefield was a remarkably accomplished person who made an indelible and lasting impression and impact on so many students, colleagues and friends over the years. Ruth came to Peabody in 1988, and since that time has been responsible for training and turning out generations of harpists now in the profession. She was not just a great teacher, but a true mentor and guiding light for her many students over the years. Ruth’s professional accomplishments extended well beyond Peabody to include numerous articles and scholarly contributions to the field related to harp performance, editions of works, and so much more. But beneath all of this Ruth was a supremely dedicated teacher.
Ruth’s supreme intelligence, keen wit and humility were always on display. We are grateful to have had her in our midst for the last three decades. Our thoughts are with Ruth’s siblings, children, and grandchildren, as well as the many friends and colleagues who loved and admired her.”
