Doctoral candidate Rachel O’Connor, horn, has been awarded the $10,000 Presser Graduate Music Award. Her project aims to fund a teaching artistry and performance tour focused on enriching musical communities in La Paz, Bolivia; Panguipulli, Chile; and Durango, Mexico; through brass pedagogy and performance training. At these locations, she will partner with established music schools to enhance their training on the horn, a highly specialized instrument. She plans to offer lessons, training, concerts, and seminars for a variety of ages and skill levels.
