California Symphony announces Viet Cuong (BM ’11, MM ’12, Composition) as its new Young American Composer-in-Residence from 2020 to 2023. Cuong was selected through a blind screening application process that received a record 132 submissions. Cuong’s term begins August 1, 2020 and ends July 31, 2020. Launched in 1991, the intensely competitive Young American Composer-In-Residence program offers emerging American composers the opportunity to write orchestral music while working with a professional orchestra and conductor over a three-year period.
