Sarah Hoover Leads Special Session for AfterWards

Sarah Hoover, Associate Dean for Innovation, Interdisciplinary Partnerships & Community Initiatives, and author of the recently published Music as Care: Artistry in the Hospital Environment, led an exploration of music as a form of care for AfterWards, a narrative medicine program at Johns Hopkins designed to connect caregivers in more intimate ways to the human story underlying the disease. In a special session on September 14, Hoover led a discussion of fragments of Wallace Stevens’ “The Man with the Blue Guitar” and shared her vision for a future state where music is incorporated robustly into patient and provider experience.
