Assistant Professor Jenine Brown, music theory, recently published in SMT-Pod, a peer-reviewed journal of the Society of Music Theory. Her work investigated the perceptual phenomenon of what she calls a double upbeat heard in Ellie Goulding’s cover of “Your Song,” something that is not present in Elton John’s original. In addition, Brown’s recent research on the pre-dominant function can be read in Empirical Musicology Review.
