Sean Jones, the Richard and Elizabeth Chase chair of Jazz Studies, is also the artistic director for Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz orchestra, which pulls young musicians between the ages of 16-19 from around the country. This summer NYO Jazz heads out on its first European tour with special guest Dee Dee Bridgewater, playing St. Moritz July 28, Amsterdam July 30, Wiesbaden August 4, Berlin August 6, and Lucerne August 9. On August 1, Jones and NYO Jazz play London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of BBC Proms.
NYO Jazz alumni include current Peabody jazz students Ebban and Ephraim Dorsey, Ethan Bailey-Gould, Hannah Mayer, Koleby Royston, and Nico Wohl.
