Preparatory alum Marilynn Crispell was named a 2025 NEA Jazz Master. Crispell was introduced to jazz in her late 20s through a John Coltrane record, which led her to collaborate with jazz legends, compose music, teach improvisation, and work with artists across various disciplines.
