Toni Marie Palmertree Makes Metropolitan Opera Stage Debut as Madama Butterfly

Toni Marie Palmertree (BM ’06, Vocal Studies) made her Metropolitan Opera Stage Debut singing the title role in Madama Butterfly on March 28th, 2026. She debuted the role at San Francisco Opera in 2016. The SF Classical Voice reported: ” The young soprano not only met the challenge, but she claimed her place among the finest vocal interpreters of the role heard here recently…It’s an individual, personal voice, one which you can recognize when you hear it again.” She has since performed the demanding role with Festival Opera of New Zealand, Syracuse Opera, West Bay Opera, and most recently with Palm Beach Opera. Palmertree made her Metropolitan Opera company debut in 2022, singing the offstage role of Voce dal ciel in Verdi’s Don Carlo.
