The Rockville Brass Band announced the appointment of Jermaine B. Fryer (MM ’20, Euphonium & Music Education) as Music Director. Band President Matthew Wlezien stated, “Jermaine is a fantastic musician who brings his experience and passion as a performer, educator, and conductor to his position as Music Director. We are all thrilled to have him as our director.” Fryer has served as Assistant Music Director since 2022, where he has led rehearsals, conducted occasional programs, and supported the ensemble’s artistic growth. In his new role, he will continue guiding the band’s musical direction and community engagement. “It is a true honor to step into the role of Music Director,” Fryer said. “The Rockville Brass Band stands for excellence, collaboration, and meaningful music-making, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation.”
A conductor, educator, and low brass performer based in the Washington, D.C. area, Fryer has worked extensively with school and community ensembles, including the nonprofit organization The MusicianShip.
