Brinae Ali Leads Workshops for International Tap Dance Day

Dance professor Brinae Ali and friends will lead multiple tap dance workshops as a part of “International Tap Dance Day” from May 25-27, 2022. The festival, organize by Ali, will feature drop-in classes, live music, and performances in partnership with the Baltimore Jazz Collective.

The Peabody BFA Dance program was named one of “The Top 20 BFA Dance Programs for 2020-21” by OnStage Blog citing the program’s “interdisciplinary perspective to immerse students in the critical study of movement, bodies, and society that accounts for historical and socio-cultural tensions on and off the stage.”

Wendel Patrick and Shodekeh Featured on “Traveler”

BFA Dance musician Shodekeh and Recording Arts faculty artist Wendel Patrick are featured on “Traveler,” the first single from Tuvan throat-singer Bady Dorzhu Ondar’s debut album. The album was recorded at WTMD in fall 2019 and the music video illustrations were created by MICA animation students.

Peabody dance sophomore Constance Ui-Seng Francois will make her Broadway debut in the upcoming West Side Story revival in the ensemble. The opening of the show is set for February 6, 2020 in New York City. This will be the first re-imagining of the show since the original.
