Yale Gordon Competition winners announced

Dmitry Volkov, a cello student of Amit Peled, was awarded first prize in the 2012 Yale Gordon Competition for orchestral bowed strings. Students partcipate in L’Arpeggiata master classes

Soprano Sara MacKimmie (MM ’11, Voice) and lutenist Brian Kay, a junior studying with Richard Stone, have been chosen to participate in Baroque music master classes by L’Arpeggiata, a European early music group led by Christina Pluhar, at Carnegie Hall on March 17 and 18.

Alumna Dubenion-Smith CD

Kristen Dubenion-Smith (MM ’05, Voice) released her first CD with her ensemble Concerto delle Donne featuring the sacred Music of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani. Other alumni on this recording are Sara MacKimmie, Nola Richardson, and Lizzi Merrill and Heaven’s Noyse members Kevin Payne, John Armato, and Jeffrey Grabelle.
