Cellist Dmitry Volkov, an Artist Diploma candidate studying with Amit Peled, was awarded first prize in Peabody’s Yale Gordon Competition, held on Feb. 15. He will perform the Shostakovich Cello Concerto in E-flat major with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra next season. Second prize was shared by violinists Nikita Borisevich, a student of Victor Danchenko, and Colin Sorgi, a student of Herbert Greenberg, both of whom are Graduate Performance Diploma candidates.
