The Sudden Pianist, a film on Peabody alumnus and faculty artist Michael Hersch, was chosen by The New York Times music critics to be on their holiday gift suggestion list. The film by Richard Anderson explores Hersch’s compositions for the piano; a companion CD features his remarkable Vanishing Pavilions, inspired by the poetry of Christopher Middleton.
It was also included on a “Baltimore arts and culture gifts list” by The Baltimore Sun‘s Chris Kaltenbach encouraging the purchase of works of local artists, writers and musicians. Also on the list are CDs by Peabody faculty members Manuel Barrueco and Marin Alsop, as well as Preparatory alumna Hilary Hahn.
