Jake Runestad news

Jake-Runestad-Headshot-2-e1331324237961Led by renowned conductor Andre Thomas, the Nebraska All-State Choir performed Jake Runestad’s (MM ’11, Composition) Nyon Nyon in November.  In 2013, the work  sold over 5,000 copies to choirs around the world.

At the ACDA Western Division conference on February 21, Brady Allred and the Salt Lake Vocal Artists will give the world premiere of Runestad’s Alleluia, a work they commissioned especially for this conference performance.

Runestad will compose a new work, settings of several poems by Langston Hughes, commissioned by Craig Hella Johnson and Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble.  The work will be performed on May 2 at 7:30pm in Memorial Hall, Cincinnati, OH  alongside works by J.S. Bach, Dominick Argento, R. Nathaniel Dett, and Kevin Puts.

Runestad was featured on Minnesota Public Radio’s “Composer Spotlight” series as a part of their Classical Notes blog. Runestad was also featured in an article in the Huffington Post, “Composer Jake Runestad’s Dreams of the Fallen– A Veterans Day Happening at the National WWII Museum.”
