Rieko Tsuchida, piano student of Boris Slutsky, is one of three Peabody students to head to Miami, Fla. to compete in the National Chopin Competition that starts Friday, February 20 and runs until March 1. Tsuchida was featured in a Miami Herald article that highlights the competition (read the full article here). She is among 24 American pianists between the ages of 17 and 29 who will perform an array of Chopin compositions in the four-round competition. The top six prizewinners will be flown to Warsaw to compete in the International Competition in April.
Also competing in the competition are DMA candidates Sungpil Kim and Eric Zuber (BM ’05, AD ’09, Piano). Kim studies with Brian Ganz and Yong Hi Moon and Zuber was a student of Boris Slutsky.
