On Sunday, December 13 at 4:00 pm, musicology faculty member Douglas Buchanan (MM ’08, Composition, Music Theory Pedagogy; DMA ’13, Composition) will conduct his first concert as artistic director of the Maryland Choral Society. The concert features works of emerging choral composers including Dale Trumbore and Paul Ayres, as well as Durante’s Magnificat and a tribute to the late David Wilcocks. The concert is entitled Peace on Earth as a call to action in troubled times to use music and art as a means to knit communities and individuals together. The performance will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church on Marlboro Pike in Forestville, Maryland. Tickets are available via the society’s website, www.marylandchoralsociety.org.
