Preparatory Tuned-In Program Awarded NEA Grant

maxresdefault-5The Peabody Preparatory is excited to accept a $34,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts for the 2016-2017 school year. The Art Works Award supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields. The award will help to support the Tuned-In program, which offers full Peabody Preparatory scholarships to musically talented Baltimore City youth. Tuned-In provides students with instruments, weekly individual lessons, and the opportunity to perform with an ensemble. Through this curricula, students develop technical and musical skills while becoming familiar with an environment of artistic excellence.

“We are thrilled that the National Endowment for the Arts is supporting Tuned-In in a substantial way,” said Peabody Preparatory Executive Director Gavin Farrell. “The funding we receive ensures that even more young musicians from less resourced communities in Baltimore City will have access to high quality arts learning that is a key component in creating positive outcomes in students’ lives.”
