Preparatory student Vincent Igusa was selected to participate in Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra 2 program. Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute launched NYO2, a two-week, intensive summer training program for outstanding young American instrumentalists ages 14–17. NYO2 has a particular focus on attracting talented students from groups underserved by and underrepresented in the classical orchestral field. The first season took place from June 18 to July 4. Maryland Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger tweeted: “Congrats to #MD02 constituent and bassoonist Vincent Igusa from Baltimore for being selected has been selected to participate in Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra 2 program! What an honor.”
