Peggy Houng Wins Global Humanitarian Entrepreneur Award

PeggyHoungPeggy Houng (BM ’14, Harp; KSAS BA ’14, Cognitive Science) was one of four winners of the Hildegard Behrens Foundation 2016 “Global Humanitarian Entrepreneur Award” for her program Harp Wise. The program, aimed at serving the Broadmead Retirement Community in Cockeysville, Maryland, was designed to address issues facing the elderly, such as dementia, hearing loss, and arthritis. It does this through two components: a biweekly concert series and weekly group harp lessons. It is designed to be administered to participants at a low cost with the support of health insurance subsidies. Ms. Houng is a graduate of the Global Leaders Program of YOA (Youth Orchestras of the Americas).
