The Newark Symphony Orchestra premiered Embers of Memory, a work for piano and orchestra by alumna Jennifer Nicole Campbell (BM ’14, MM ’15, Piano) on November 19 in a concert honoring women composers. Embers of Memory is a composition about individuals who have suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and their families. Ms. Campbell hopes to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s, and to give a musical voice to those who suffer in silence from the disease. In addition, Ms. Campbell also performed her composition Variations on Simple Gifts at the November 19 concert.
