Douglas Buchanan Conducts Maryland Choral Society on March 5

buchananOn March 5, Musicology Faculty Member Douglas Buchanan (MM ’08, Composition,Theory Pedagogy; DMA ’13, Composition) will conduct the Maryland Choral Society in the Mid-Atlantic premiere of Mariana Martines’ Dixit Dominus. Martines, who collaborated with Mozart and Metastasio and studied with Haydn, wrote the work after her admission to the Accademia Filarmonica in 1773. The work has only been performed one other time on the East Coast since its composition almost 250 years ago. The concert program also features Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore, K. 339, and Divertimento in D Major, K. 136. The concert will take place at 4:00 pm at Mt Calvary Catholic Church in Forestville, Md, with a pre-concert talk at 3:30 pm. Find Tickets and more information here.
