Mezzo-soprano Claire Galloway Weber (MM ’15, Voice) and baritone Brad Testerman, a voice student in the studio of Steve Rainbolt and master’s candidate studying saxophone with Gary Louie, and collaborative pianist/conductor John Henderson (MM ’15, Composition), will present “As Caged Birds,” a recital of contemporary vocal chamber music presented with visual art by Mollie Komins at the Baltimore War Memorial on Friday, April 28 at 8:00 pm. The musical pieces and visual art presented will take on issues of identity, humanity, and connection through art and love. Weber will present Judith Weir’s The Voice of Desire, Testerman will present songs by Samuel Barber set to poetry by James Joyce and James Agee, and the pair will present selections from Laura Kaminsky’s chamber opera As One accompanied by a string quartet including GPD candidate Kaleigh Acord, senior violin student Naomi Schrank, GPD candidate Daniel Jacobs (MM ’15, Viola), and GPD candidate Tzu-Jou Yeh.
