Peabody Artists Receive Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Awards

Alumna Yameng Wang (MM ’08, GPD ’11, Guitar) and faculty artists David Smooke (MM ’95, Composition) and Judah Adashi (MM ’02, DMA ’11, Composition) have each been awarded $6,000 in Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Awards. Faculty artist Manuel Barrueco (BM ’75, Guitar) and Jacqueline Pollauf (BM ’06, MM ’07, Harp) were each awarded $3,000. Keesun Kwon (BM ’01, Voice) was awarded $1,000. The Maryland State Arts Council’s annual Individual Artist Award recognizes the importance of artists and their works of excellence to the cultural vibrancy of Maryland.
