This fall, faculty composer Douglas Buchanan (MM ’08, Composition, Music Theory Pedagogy; DMA ’13, Composition) began an 18-month composer residency, “The Sounds Between,” at the Dallas Chamber Symphony, the city’s only professional chamber orchestra. In January, three newly-commissioned works will be performed in a mid-residency concert at the Dallas City Performance Hall, including a multi-movement work titled “Crossroads” for DCS and Dallas Street Choir. Richard McKay (DMA ’11, Conducting) is the DCS’ artistic director and conductor and was Buchanan’s contemporary in the Peabody DMA program. The residency was featured on Dallas’ NBC 5.
