Lavena Johanson and Melody Giron Will Perform New Work By Julia Wolfe

Lavena JohansonLavena Johanson (MM ’13, Cello) and Melody Giron (MM ’14, Cello) will be performing a new work by Julia Wolfe. The piece, Spinning, is for three cellos and voice, and it incorporates multimedia projections. This piece celebrates the act of spinning thread, a craft performed by women that also utilized music to help propel their work. This event is presented by Montclair State University, in Montclair, N.J. There will be four performances of the piece: March 10 and 11 at 7:30 pm, March 12 at 8:00 pm, and March 13 at 3:00 pm, all at the Alexander Kasser Theater on Montclair’s campus.
