Faculty artists Kevin Puts and Joel Puckett will have their operas performed in Minnesota Opera’s 2018-19 season. Puts’s opera, Silent Night, will make its return to the company in November, and Puckett’s opera, The Fix, will premiere in March 2019. Both of these operas were commissioned by Minnesota Opera. Silent Night earned Puts the Pulitzer Prize in Music in 2012, and its performance aligns with the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of World War I. The Fix is about the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, and its commission came as a part of the opera company’s New Works Initiative.
