Adam Rosenblatt (BM ’10, Percussion; KSAS BS ’10, Molecular/Cellular Biology) is an artist-in-residence with Creative Alliance, and as a winner of a Dean’s Incentive Grant will be performing Michael Gordon’s percussion sextet Timber. Usually, Timber is played using the best tropical wood available (mahogany, rosewood, etc). For this performance, though, Rosenblatt is sourcing the pieces of wood directly from the abandoned and vacant homes of Baltimore. These homes themselves thus become the main voice, telling the ongoing story of a city that still struggles with equity and stability for all its residents. Rosenblatt will collaborate with other Peabody alumni to make this performance come to life. The performance will take place on Friday, March 8, at 6:30 pm at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, Md. Tickets are free, but an RSVP is required.
