Composition department chair Oscar Bettison has had a live recording of his chamber concerto, “Livre des Sauvages” released on Wergo Records, as part of the Ensemble Musikfabrik’s live in the WDR (West German Radio) concert. The WDR is the legendary concert-hall and recording space of the West German Radio in Cologne, where many world premieres and recordings have taken place. Bettison’s piece was a co-commission from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Musikfabrik, and this was the European premiere. It has been played subsequently by the Chicago Symphony, the Talea Ensemble and Alarm Will Sound -who will play it this coming February in his portrait concert at Miller Theater. The Composer Portrait concert will take place on February 20, 2020 and will highlight his compositions.
