Preparatory alumna Soh-Hyun Park Altino, violin, will embark on a lecture recital tour, called “Playing Traditional Korean Sanjo on the Violin: The Kim Ilgu school of long sanjo.” Jeong Junho joins her, playing the changgu. The performances stem from her work in 2019 at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she began a new line of study of interpreting traditional Korean music on the Western violin. The lecture and world premiere performance to take place at Wheaton College on September 25 is made possible by the 2023 Korean Studies Grant of the Academy of Korean Studies and the Faculty Global Research Award of Wheaton College, where she is currently Associate Professor of Music. Other stops on the tour include George Washington University, the Cleveland Museum of Art, University of Michigan, and University of Washington.
