On Sunday, January 17 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, faculty composer Judah Adashi (MM ’02, DMA ’11, Composition) and alumnus Tariq Al-Sabir (BM ’15, Voice) were featured on a choral evensong in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Mr. Al-Sabir gave a pre-service recital at 4:30 pm. The 5:00 pm service included the premiere of Mr. Al-Sabir’s Preces and Responses, commissioned by St. David’s, and a performance of selections from Dr. Adashi’s Rise, with poetry by Tameka Cage Conley and with Mr. Al-Sabir as the soloist.
